NHT seeks less costly solutions, and announces the application results for Meylersfield, Westmoreland

The National Housing Trust engages partners in a search for less costly housing solutions as the Trust announces its 35th Anniversary Journalism Award. Further, the NHT announces the names of persons short- listed to be interviewed for serviced lots at Meylersfield, Westmoreland.

As part of its strategy to deliver 20,880 housing solutions by 2015, on Wednesday, September 14, the NHT invited public and private sector partners to a round-table discussion on measures to facilitate lower cost, efficient housing delivery. Agencies represented at the meeting were: the Office of the Prime Minister, the Incorporated Masterbuilders  Association of Jamaica, Jamaica Developers Association, National Environment and Planning Agency, Department of Local Government, National Water Commission, Scientific Research Council, Jamaica Institution of Engineers, the Press Association of Jamaica, the Jamaica Institute of Planners, and the Jamaica Institute of Architects. The housing forum was part of the NHT’s 35th Anniversary activities.

Journalism Award
Also in commemoration of the NHT’s 35th Anniversary, the NHT announced the introduction of the NHT Journalism Award for Excellence in Reporting on Sustainable Development and Affordable Housing, on Wednesday, September 14. The award will be made to a journalist who publishes original work reflecting outstanding thought, research, analysis and investigation of issues relating to affordable housing and/or sustainable development.

MORTGAGE LOAN APPLICATION RESULTS - MEYLERSFIELD, WESTMORELAND
As the housing discussion continues, the NHT is pleased to publish the names of persons short- listed to be interviewed for loans to buy serviced lots at Meylersfield, Westmoreland. Persons have been short-listed for loan interviews based on applications received by the Trust between Monday, August 15 and Friday, August 19, 2011.
